- A passport or travel document with Machine Readable Zone (MRZ) with at least 1 month validity. (Passengers with extended validity in their passports are not allowed to enter.)
- A complete travel itinerary, including confirmed return journey tickets, prepaid confirmed booking at a registered facility, and sufficient funds to cover the stay in the Maldives, or a pre-approved sponsorship visa from Maldives Immigration
- Entry requirements to their onward destinations; for example, the visa and passport validity
- All foreigners arriving in the Maldives must complete and submit the 'Traveller Declaration' form. The form can be completed up to 96 hours (4 days) before your arrival in Maldives. Submission of the form is free of charge and must be filled electronically via the IMUGA portal.
- Yellow Fever Vaccination Certificate, if applicable. Children under 1 year of age are exempt from Yellow Fever vaccination.
- A complete travel itinerary does not guarantee entry to Maldives. Entry will be granted at the port of entry after determination of admissibility by Immigration officers, as per Section 7 and 8 of The Maldives Immigration Act 2007
- A tourist visa is the permit to remain in the Maldives granted in accordance with subsections (b) and (c) of … this section to a visiting foreign national, who do not have the intention to be employed or work to earn any incomes in the Maldives.
- (c) The Controller of Immigration and Emigration shall have the discretion to grant leave to a foreign national entering the Maldives pursuant to subsection (a), to remain in the Maldives for a period not exceeding 90 days from the date of entry of that visit to the Maldives, after the fee specified in the Annex of this Act has been paid

The Maldives Immigration Act (Law 1/2007) is the statute that creates the visa and entry regime: s.7(c) admits a foreign national who presents a passport at an authorised port and files a disembarkation form, s.10(b) grants the tourist permit of up to 30 days from entry without fee, and s.8 as amended by Law 3/2025 lists those denied entry, including holders of Israeli passports. The Immigration page describes how the Act is administered and the gazette amends it; neither replaces it.
The step is who publishes it: this is Maldives Immigration's own current statement of the tourist-visa regime (updated 27/08/2025), and it says the visa is granted on arrival without pre-approval — exactly advanceAuthorisation=false with entryMode VISA_ON_ARRIVAL — applying to foreign tourists with no nationality listed as excluded. It grounds admissibility in ss.7 and 8 of the Immigration Act, connecting the operational grant to the statutory scheme; the 30-day stay is then fixed by s.10(b) of the Act quoted under maxDays. The Maldives Mission's current article (July 2026) corroborates the 30-day on-arrival grant independently.
