Entry and stay only. What this covers

Entry conditions1 to check
  • The grant rests on a Burkina Faso–Mauritania reciprocal visa-abolition accord. Burkina Faso's own entry-conditions list accepts 'un accord de visa' in place of a visa, and Mauritania's foreign ministry names Burkina Faso among the states with which it has signed such an accord, without the diplomatic/service-passport limitation it applies to other entries on the same list.

Aevamo’s reading

Loi n°001-2024/ALT of 22 February 2024 fixes the conditions of entry and stay of foreigners and repeals the 1984 ordinance; it is the instrument that creates the visa obligation for foreigners entering Burkina Faso, subject to community rules, international conventions and reciprocity. The e-visa portal describes how that obligation is operated.

This is Mauritania's own Foreign Ministry stating which countries Mauritania has signed a reciprocal visa-abolition accord with, and it names Burkina Faso in the West Africa group with no passport-class restriction — unlike Morocco, Syria, Turkey and the others on the same list, whose entries are expressly limited to diplomatic and service passports. A reciprocal abolition accord by its terms operates in both directions, so a ministry of a party to the accord reporting that it was signed and is reciprocal is evidence that Burkina Faso applies it too. Burkina Faso's own accords register is the place that would carry the Burkinabè side and it is empty (site under construction), so this is the party's own statement and the best evidence there is.

Work and residence rights are separate from this check. This is the entry rule and the length of stay the instrument grants. It is not a decision about you: the officer at the border decides admission, and we do not evaluate the purpose of your trip, your passport's remaining validity, an onward ticket, funds, insurance or health requirements.
