Entry conditions4 to check
  • A Schedule national may enter only if they hold travel authorization to enter and re-enter Canada, the United Kingdom or the United States, valid for forty-five days from the date of intended departure from Bermuda.
  • Alternatively, a Schedule national may enter if they produce a current letter issued by the Government attesting that they are a spouse of a Bermudian or belong to Bermuda pursuant to section 11(5) of the Bermuda Constitution Order 1968.
  • For the Schedule entries marked '*', China (People's Republic of), Indonesia, South Africa, Taiwan, Turkey and Vietnam, nationals are subject to the exceptions provided on the United Kingdom Immigration website (Home Office Immigration Rules Appendix Visitor: Visa national list); for example a Taiwan passport that includes the holder's national identification-card number is excepted from the UK visa requirement.
  • For the Schedule entries marked '**', Cuba, Haiti, Ukraine and Venezuela, nationals can be landed in Bermuda with the issuance of a standard work permit from the Department.

Official wording

Subject to paragraph 3, the nationals of the countries provided in the Schedule are prohibited from entering Bermuda.

Aevamo’s reading

The Order, made under s.26(1) of the Bermuda Immigration and Protection Act 1956, is the instrument that creates the obligation: it prohibits the nationals of the 72 Schedule countries from entering Bermuda and makes their entry conditional on a UK/Canada/US travel authorization or a Government letter. It does not report a rule made elsewhere; it makes the rule.

The Order makes the Schedule the complete exclusion list and prohibits the nationals of the 72 countries named in it from entering Bermuda; every issuer on this row is named in that Schedule, so advance authorisation must be arranged before travel, as the entry conditions on this row set out.

Work and residence rights are separate from this check. This is the entry rule and the length of stay the instrument grants. It is not a decision about you: the officer at the border decides admission, and we do not evaluate the purpose of your trip, your passport's remaining validity, an onward ticket, funds, insurance or health requirements.
