Official wording

With effect from 23rd April 2026 an ETA will become a requirement for non-visa nationals travelling from outside the Common Travel Area (UK, Isle of Man and Channel Islands) direct to the Bailiwick of Guernsey. … Who needs an ETA? Non-visa nationals looking to visit for up to 6 months … It gives permission for multiple journeys within this period and for stays up to 6 months.

Aevamo’s reading

The Immigration (Bailiwick of Guernsey) Rules 2008 are made under section 3(2) of the Immigration Act 1971 as extended to the Bailiwick and impose the requirement for leave to enter, define visa nationals (by reference to the UK Appendix) and non-visa nationals, require entry clearance of visa nationals, and set the visitor stay limit. The gov.gg ETA page reports the ETA policy created under that same control framework; it describes the rule, while the Rules create it.

The passage makes an ETA mandatory from 23 April 2026 for non-visa nationals, the class defined in the Guernsey Rules as persons not specified in the UK visa-national Appendix; each issuer on this row is absent from that Appendix (I searched the UK list for all of them) and is not among the ETA exemptions, so an ETA must be arranged in advance and the stay it permits is up to 6 months.

Work and residence rights are separate from this check. This is the entry rule and the length of stay the instrument grants. It is not a decision about you: the officer at the border decides admission, and we do not evaluate the purpose of your trip, your passport's remaining validity, an onward ticket, funds, insurance or health requirements.
