Official wording

*Those who hold a passport issued by Taiwan that includes in it the number of the identification card issued by the competent authority in Taiwan. … V 16.2. Entry clearance and permission to enter as a Visitor will be granted for the periods set out in the following table—

Visitor type Maximum initial length of stay

(a) Standard visitor up to 6 months except: … VN 2.2 A person falling within paragraph VN 2.2. of Appendix V: Visa national list to the United Kingdom’s Immigration Rules does not need a visit visa before they travel to the Isle of Man as a visitor, other than where paragraph VN 2.3 applies.

Aevamo’s reading

The Isle of Man Immigration Rules are made under section 3(2) of the Immigration Act 1971 (an Act of Parliament) as extended to the Isle of Man by the Immigration (Isle of Man) Order 2008; they impose the leave-to-enter requirement, define who must obtain entry clearance in advance (visa nationals and the ETA requirement) and set the visitor stay durations. The UK visa national appendix is adopted by them by cross-reference and supplies the enumeration of nationalities.

IOM VN 2.2 adopts the UK exception for Taiwan passports carrying the national ID card number, so those holders do not need a visit visa; the ETA National List footnote likewise excepts holders of such a Taiwan passport from the ETA requirement. A Taiwan passport holder with the ID card number therefore needs no advance authorisation at all, and V 16.2 fixes the visitor stay at up to 6 months.

What this answer covers Limits & assumptions

Work and residence rights are separate from this check. This is the entry rule and the length of stay the instrument grants. It is not a decision about you: the officer at the border decides admission, and we do not evaluate the purpose of your trip, your passport's remaining validity, an onward ticket, funds, insurance or health requirements.
