Loi n°001-2024/ALT of 22 February 2024 fixes the conditions of entry and stay of foreigners and repeals the 1984 ordinance; it is the instrument that creates the visa obligation for foreigners entering Burkina Faso, subject to community rules, international conventions and reciprocity. The e-visa portal describes how that obligation is operated.
Burkina Faso's 30 December 2025 Foreign Ministry communiqué imposes a total restriction on issuing visas to U.S. nationals; because an entry visa is a precondition for admission, U.S. citizens cannot obtain the document the general regime requires.
